M&A activity in the UK logistics sector for Q1 of 2022

Insights 01.04.2022 Author: Philip Bird

M&A activity in the UK logistics sector continues to be strong and in line with the results of our last UK Logistics Sector M&A survey published in October 2021.

In the period 31 September 2021 to 24 March 2022 there were 66 transactions in the UK compared to 64 transactions in the preceding six months period (Source; Pitchbook). Notable transactions in the last six months include the takeover of Clipper Logistics plc by GXO of the USA, and the acquisition of Carousel Logistics by Axcel Management of Denmark. Supply chain technology software and applications remains an attractive area of early stage investment from venture capital and private equity investors – noteworthy transactions include investments in Huboo, an e-commerce order fulfilment business by Ada Ventures, and in Chess Technology Logistics, a warehouse management software business, by Harwood Private Equity.
