We are delighted that retired CBW Partner, Subhash Thakrar, has been recognised with the ICAEW’s Outstanding Achievement Award for 2021.
Subhash Vithaldas Thakrar, who founded the Asian Business Association, received the ICAEW Outstanding Achievement Award for 2021, after it was delayed by a year due to the pandemic.
The ICAEW award recognises his achievements and contributions to business, including supporting and championing London’s Asian business community, the UK’s business overseas and his charitable activities.
Subhash qualified as a Chartered Accountant with Spicer and Pegler in 1982 and subsequently joined Blackstone Franks where he became their first Asian partner in 1985. After becoming Managing Partner of Blackstone Franks, he negotiated a merger with CBW in 2013.
Subhash is the founder of the Asian Business Association (ABA) which is part of the London Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and has now become a hugely influential body in the UK’s business environment. Subhash Chaired the ABA from 2001 to 2004 and later became Chairman of the London Chamber of Commerce and Industry from 2010 to 2013.
Thakrar commented to the ICAEW: “With this recognition, I hope I’ll be able to make my mark within and outside the profession, so that I can give back to society. My qualification has given me a huge platform to venture out into many fields in addition to accounting, ranging from business and the voluntary sector.”
